SMART’s protocol paper has just been accepted for publication in the European Journal of Psychotraumatology and the whole team is absolutely ecstactic!
Although later than originally planned, the publication of our experimental protocol reflects years of intense work, funding application, partner and research site selection, team creation, seeking for ethics approval by NYU and the NY State Department of education, registration as a clinical trial, careful experimental and intervention-program design, refinement of our methods, and the current (quite challenging) implementation of the study program.
In addition, the whole scientific, educational, and teaching-artist teams have put a lot of effort into the preparation of this article, as well as all its supporting materials, which will all be openly accessible. This includes the session-to-session curriculum of our intervention program, our mental health resources document, and the mental-health response protocol. We hope this will inspire other research teams through Europe and beyond to impement similar arts-based interventions for mental wellbeing, based on our own work and experiences. If you are one of these researchers or educators potentially thinking of starting a similar intervention program, please, do not hesitate in reaching out to us!
Congratulations on our first publication, SMART team!
