On Friday October 25th, 2024, NYU’s 370 Jay St. facilities held the MARL & CoHRR: Sound + Health Research Day. This was a one-day event for researchers from the Music and Audio Research Lab (MARL) and the Center for Health and Rehabilitation Research (CoHRR) to introduce each other, their teams, and their lines of research, in order to understand and explore avenues of collaboration between both NYU Steindhartd’s centers.

Prof. Pablo Ripollés presenting different lines of research and projects carried out in his lab, including the SMART project (right column of the screen).
Among the PIs showcasting their work, Prof. Pablo Ripollés presented the project SMART, highlighting our team, status of the study, and current efforts. After PIs presentations, two breakout rooms were created, in which participating researchers discussed for 45 minutes about specific topics (i.e., Machine Learning + Analysis, and Speech, Music and the Brain) and which collaborative projects could be created from those ideas, benefiting all researchers and labs involved. This highlighted the potential for multidiscipinary, high quality research that could elicit the collaboration between CoHRR and MARL researchers.
This was an excellent dissemination and networking opportunity for MARL, the Ripolles Lab and the research team from the SMART project.
