These past few days (June 13th to 16th), a small part of the Ripolles Lab attended the Neuroscience and Music VIII conference in Helsinki (Finland). This is the most important conference in the neuromusic field, it takes place every 3 years, and it is a great showcase of the most relevant and novel advances in the field. It also gives a pretty good idea of how the field of Neuroscience and Music keeps growing: around 450 researchers attended this years’ conference!
From the SMART team, Lucía Vaquero and Eva Luna Muñoz Vidal attended this super well-organized, stimulating conference, that contain almost as much music as scientific content and networking opportunities. On Day 4, Sunday June 16th, Eva and Lucía had the chance to present their poster, containing a description of the SMART protocol, and discussing the first preliminary results, which are very promising and suggest a positive effect of music training on mental health markers.

The Neuromusic conference has been possible thanks to the Mariani Foundation, as well as the local organizing committee from Helsinki, and the international scientific committee. We are very thankful to have had the opportunity to present our project during this relevant event, where we had the chance to get involved in interesting discussions and to collect very useful and stimulating feedback to apply moving forward.
We hope to be able to present a more complete set of findings, conclusions, and applications of the SMART project in the next Neuroscience and Music conferece, that will take place in Tokyo (Japan) in 2027!
