The Ripolles Lab held a meeting on May 30th with the organization Sounds of Saving at MARL-NYU premises to exchange ideas and discuss the different projects that both groups are currently working on. The main goal was to get to know each other, and try to find common ground for potential avenues of collaboration.
Sounds of Saving (SoS) is a non-profit organization focused on designing materials and curriculum, and providing resources for young people aiming to guide them on how to explore and use music to support their mental health and wellness. Their goals and current projects greatly overlap with those of the Ripolles Lab and, especially, with the SMART project.
The meeting was super interesting, as expected. SoS showed a clear interest in SMART’s results, but also on our insights and experiences from implementing the project in public schools from the NYC area. Their mental health for youth program seems to have a clear overlap with several aspects of SMART. Hence, we will try to keep in touch and collaborate moving forward.
