SMART baseline evaluations start!

After several delays that could not be foreseen due to a longer-than-expected IRB Ethics Committee review process by the New York Department of Education, and adaptations that had to be made to the scholar calendar, the baseline evaluations for the first cohort of recruited participants have just started!

As described in our IRB-approved protocol, adapting to the usual curriculum of this recruited class, and in constant collaboration with their main teacher, we are testing the participating students during their usual advisory lesson’s classes for several consecutive days until they complete the full evaluation protocol. To do so, the SMART research team has been using both the lab laptops (for behavioral experimental tasks) and their classroom laptops (for the online surveys).

The SMART team is very excited to set the evaluations in motion, officially starting the first experimental and data acquisition round.
