Lucía Vaquero has recently written an article upon invitation from The Conversation within her usual collaboration with its Spanish division. The Conversation is a not-for-profit platform that gathers several media outlets, publishing news stories and research reports online, and acting as an intermediary between experts and the general population.
This time, LV’s article is focused on the neural and evolutive basis of dance: why do we dance, and what is behind the impulse that almost all humans feel when hearing certain tunes. In the text, she briefly summarizes some of the recent findings in the field and theoretical frameworks that explains this innate ability, and why humans have kept this trait throughout evolution. LV was invited to write about this topic due its close connection to her expertise in the neuroscience of music.
The article is written in Spanish, in a fairly accessible and plain language, in order to reach any person interested in this topic, regardless of their educational level or previous knowledge. It can be read here for free.
